In partnership with Mt. Airy Learning Tree, learn the basics of keeping a healthy flock of backyard hens to produce eggs. Topics will include selecting chickens, raising them from chicks, the coop, the care, feeding the chickens, handling the eggs, and some of the challenges that should be considered before keeping backyard chickens.

 
This two-session workshop will be led by Maureen Breen. Maureen is the President of Philadelphia Backyard Chickens, a local group that shares resources about backyardchicken keeping. She also conducts research in the value of backyard chickens to reduce food waste.


The second workshop session takes place Tuesday, Feb. 19, from 7-9 p.m. at Mt. Airy Nexus. The one-time registration fee covers the two-session workshop.
