PATCHWORK BRINGS WORLD STORYTELLING DAY TO COMMUNITY

Patchwork: A Storytelling Guild brings World Storytelling Day: Myths, Legends, and Epics to Mt. Airy Nexus, 520 Carpenter Lane, Philadelphia, PA on Wednesday, March 20 at 7 PM. This event is free for members, $15 suggested for non-members. Light refreshments and door prizes.

Among the tellers for this much-anticipated event are: Patchworks Claudia Elizabeth Aldred, Susannah Brody, Ingrid Bohn, Michele Belluomini, Vernyce Dannells, Denise McCormack, and Ray Tackett.

World Storytelling Day has been a global enterprise since the 1990s. In fact, in 1995, when storytellers Larry Johnson and Elaine Wynne, of Minnesota, were invited to teach Scandinavian storytellers in Sweden and Norway how to create and tell personal stories, they brought back with them Alle Berattres Dag or Everyone Tell a Story Day to encourage everyoneprofessional storyteller or notto tell his or her own story to everyonechildren, grandchildren, friends, and neighbors. Today, what has become World Storytelling Day is celebrated on or about March 20, in more than 25 countries.
